Mid-Week Musings

Suggested Reading: John 12:12-13
Dear NBRC Family & Friends,
A familiar Palm Sunday hymn is “All Glory, Laud and Honor.” It was written by Bishop Theodolph of Orleans, France, when he was imprisoned at the monastery of Angers.
After the death of Emperor Charlemagne, Bishop Theodolph was put in a monastic prison by the emperor’s son for allegedly plotting against him. A legend has long been associated with this hymn. Many believe that not long before the bishop died, the emperor’s son was visiting near where the bishop was imprisoned and passed under his cell as the bishop was singing and worshiping. When the emperor heard words of “All Glory, Laud and Honor,” he was so moved by the experience that he immediately ordered the bishop’s release from prison.
The next time you hear or sing the words of this hymn, may God use it to help you worship Jesus, the “good and gracious King.”
Pastor Ron
Prayer suggestion: As you pray, ask Jesus to help you worship Him for who He truly is and not simply for who you want Him to be.
(On Palm Sunday morning, March 24, the sermon title will be Lessons from a Donkey. The Scripture lesson will be from Mark 11:1-11.)
