Mid-Week Musings
March 27, 2024
Suggested Reading: Mark 10:32-34
Dear NBRC Family & Friends,
As we journey through Holy Week, celebrating the resurrection of Jesus on Easter Sunday gets closer and closer. In addition to however else you might prepare to celebrate Easter, let me offer some suggestions for how to prepare yourself mentally and spiritually.
Ask the Holy Spirit to help you. Ask Him to prepare your mind and your heart for celebrating Jesus’ resurrection.
Read and reread the story of the resurrection of Jesus as it’s found in the Bible (Matthew 28:1-10; Mark 16:1-8; Luke 24:1-12; John 20:1-10).
Spend time pondering the events of Jesus’ last days on earth and the words the Bible tells us He spoke while on the cross.
Spend time thanking God for the gift of eternal life through faith in Jesus.
Sing, read, or listen to Christian songs that talk about Christ’s resurrection.
Visit a cemetery and imagine something of what it will be like for believers when Jesus returns.
Think about the difference Jesus and His resurrection make in your life.
Look for opportunities to speak with others about God’s gift of eternal life through faith in Jesus and the hope believers have because of His resurrection.
May God bless you with a meaningful and enjoyable Easter Sunday!
Pastor Ron
Prayer suggestion: As you pray, ask God to prepare you to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus on Easter Sunday and every day.
(On Easter Sunday morning, March 31, the sermon title will be Celebrating the Resurrection of Jesus beyond Easter. The Scripture lesson will be from Matthew 28:1-10.)
Some reminders. . .
Maundy Thursday, March 28: We will gather in the fellowship room, our own “upper room,” at 7:00 p.m. for an intimate and more informal worship service during which we’ll remember some of the events that occurred the Thursday before Jesus was crucified. The service will include the Lord’s Supper.
Good Friday, March 29: We will gather in the sanctuary at 7:00 p.m. for a traditional worship service during which we will remember the crucifixion and death of Jesus Christ. The service will include the Lord’s Supper.
Easter Sunday, March 31: We will gather at 7:00 a.m. for a sunrise service and at 9:30 a.m. for a traditional service.
