Mid-Week Musings
April 24, 2024
Suggested Reading: 1 Timothy 4:7-8
Dear NBRC Family & Friends,
It’s important to take good care of our physical bodies. Our bodies are gifts from God to be used for His glory and, at least for believers, they are also “temples of the Holy Spirit” (1 Corinthians 6:19).
A healthy diet, sufficient sleep, and physical exercise are things that can promote good physical health. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle often requires discipline, dedication, hard work, and a willingness to sacrifice.
As it important as it is to take care of ourselves physically, it’s even more important to take care of ourselves spiritually. Maintaining a healthy spiritual life can also require discipline, dedication, hard work, and a willingness to sacrifice. It would be foolish to work hard at maintaining good physical health while ignoring spiritual health. Just as we should avoid things that are bad for us physically, we should also avoid things that are bad for us spiritually.
What measures are you taking to promote good physical health? Are you eating right? Are you exercising regularly? Are you getting enough sleep? What measures are you taking to promote good spiritual health? Are you praying regularly? Are you reading, studying, and meditating on the Bible regularly? Are you attending corporate worship regularly?
Physical fitness and spiritual fitness are both important. Are you willing to put forth the effort needed to promote and develop them?
Pastor Ron
Prayer suggestion: Ask God to bless you with both physical and spiritual health and strength.
(On Sunday morning, April 28, 2024, we’ll continue a series of sermons titled Encounters with the Risen Jesus. The next encounter we’ll consider is the one between Jesus and seven of His disciples. The Scripture lesson will be from John 21:1-14.)
