The “musings” this week are intended to help you prepare for the sermon to be delivered next Sunday morning, September 15. The sermon is titled A Fruit-Bearing Tree or Wind-Driven Chaff? The Scripture lesson will be from Psalm 1:1:1-6. I hope the following thoughts and questions helpful.

Throughout our lives, we’re faced with a number of choices. Some of them are more important than others. In Psalm 1, the psalmist presents us with two kinds of people: the righteous and the wicked.

1. How does the psalmist describe the righteous?

2. How does the psalmist describe the wicked?

3. How does the psalmist describe the relationship between the righteous and “the law of the LORD”?

4. What three things does the psalmist say the righteous do not do?

5. What does it mean that the wicked “are like chaff that the wind drives away”?

Prayer suggestion: As you pray, ask God to help you make the right choice for how to live your life.
